Confirmation

Confirmation is a holy sacrament. It confirms your Baptism and helps you become stronger in your faith. When you’re confirmed, you receive the Holy Spirit in a special way, just like the Apostles did at Pentecost!

During Confirmation, the bishop (or a priest chosen by the bishop) will gently place his hands on your head and pray for you. Then, he will anoint your forehead with holy oil called Sacred Chrism. As he does this, he will say: “Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

This is a very special moment!

You only receive the Sacrament of Confirmation once in your life. In our diocese of Ballarat, children usually receive Confirmation when they are 7 or 8 years old.

In the Sunraysia parish, students in Grade 3 are invited to receive Confirmation after they finish this online course. We are so excited to walk with you on this journey of faith!
