First Communion

Over six weeks, we will LISTEN, LEARN and LIVE the mystery Jesus gives us in the Holy Eucharist.

About the Eucharist and Communion

The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life, and it is the third and final sacrament of initiation. First Communion is ministered “at the age of reason.” You must be capable of understanding that even though the Eucharist looks like bread and tastes like bread, it is not bread – it is the Body and Blood of Christ.

In the Sunraysia parish, students in Grade 4 are invited to make their First Holy Communion after completing this online course.

About this course

There are six sections in the course. A section is published each week. Every section contains three lessons:

  • First lesson: you LISTEN to the Gospel. (In fact you watch a scene of Jesus’ life.)
  • Second lesson: you LEARN how that Gospel forms Catholic belief.
  • Third lesson: you see how these beliefs impact how Catholics LIVE.

Listen, learn and live! Every lesson concludes with a short quiz of three questions. You have to pass with 100% to get to the next lesson.

Don’t worry!

Our parish patron saints, Sts Anne and Joachim, will drop hints before each quiz. And if you get any questions wrong, you can quickly and easily sit the quiz again.
